'There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, '

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 ESV

The Scriptures are overwhelmingly clear when it comes to who is the main antagonist of mankind. Our ultimate adversary is not Satan, nor is it truly even Sin itself. No, instead, the ultimate enemy of God’s creation is Death.
In the Bible, though we are bound and damned in our sins, it is the wages we earn that are our enemy.
But there is hope found in Jesus Christ, and in his blood.

I would like to digress and relay a quote that I find most fitting to the Christian hope. It is not found in the Bible, nor was it intended to reference it. As a matter-of-fact, the writer of said quote was most likely an atheist, but he accidentally summarizes the victory we have in Jesus. In the book The Hero With A Thousand Faces, Joseph Campbell, a prolific and controversial 20th-century mythologist, claims: “The only thing with the power to defeat death is birth.”

And it is in this that we as Christians, through the death and resurrection of Christ, hold our victory over Death. In Him, we are born again, scorning the grave and finding life in His cleansing and living blood.

To Him be the power, the glory, and the kingdom forever.
So be it and let it be.
Amen.
